Garlic is a species in the onion genus, Allium. Its close relatives include the onion, shallot, leek, chive, and rakkyo. Garlic is native to Central Asia and northeastern Iran and has long been a common seasoning worldwide, with a history of several thousand years of human consumption and use. It has a pungent, spicy flavor that can add depth to savory dishes. Garlic is also used in traditional medicine and has been shown to have some health benefits, such as reducing the risk of heart disease and some cancers.
Garlic has several potential health benefits, including reducing blood pressure, improving cholesterol levels, and boosting the immune system. It may also have antimicrobial properties and may be beneficial for preventing certain types of cancer. However, more research is needed to confirm these effects and determine the optimal dosage. Uses of Garlic

• As a medicinal herb to lower cholesterol and blood pressure

• Garlic supplements are used as a remedy for conditions such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and heart disease.

It is also used as a natural insect repellent, and in some cultures, it is used to ward off evil spirits



Dishes of garlic

• Garlic bread: a classic appetizer made by spreading butter or oil mixed with minced garlic on slices of bread and toasting them

• Garlic shrimp: a dish made by sautéing shrimp in butter or oil with minced garlic and other seasonings

• Garlic chicken: a dish made by marinating chicken in a garlic-based marinade or coating it with a garlic butter before cooking

• Garlic mashed potatoes: a side dish made by mashing boiled potatoes with butter, milk, and minced garlic

• Garlic noodles: a dish made by cooking pasta in a garlic butter sauce

• Pesto: a traditional Italian sauce made with basil, pine nuts, Parmesan cheese, garlic and olive oil

• Minced Garlic is also a main ingredient in many Asian and Middle Eastern dishes like stir fry,curries and marinades.
